Mechanical Service Technician
Area - One in Berkshire North Hampshire and One in North London area
The company providing Planned Preventative Maintenance, repair and certification services to patient handling and hygiene equipment for the care sector. Such equipment includes overhead and mobile hoists, baths, scales, wheelchairs, profiling beds, etc. Customers use our services to ensure that their equipment conforms to H & S legislation (LOLER 1998 and PUWER) and fix breakdowns. We predominantly serve London & The South East through East Anglia and Norfolk and have a team of 6 full time trained and competent technicians who are backed by a 9 strong office-based team.
The position:
The Service Technician is a very important role in the organisation since the fulfilment of our core business activities depends on such. The role involves driving a VW Transporter van which is fully equipped with a comprehensive stock of spare parts to aid on site repairs and replacements. The technician is required to travel to client sites to perform routine servicing, inspections and repairs to customer owned equipment. Service Reports have to be hand-written for each job and posted to the office daily.
Working Hours:
45 hours per week Monday - Friday.
Reason for position availability:
Due to expansion, we have 2 positions available. As advised, we are primarily looking for an engineer based in the Reading area with a second engineer based in the North of London.
* GBP30 - 34K pa dependent on experience
* 45 hours per week: Mon - Fri 7:30 - 17:00 with ?? hr unpaid lunch break
* Paid door-to-door
* No on call rota or weekend work
* Overtime paid at 1 ?? time for all hours in excess of 45 per week
* Bonus scheme enabling engineers to earn based on their individual performance and typically an additional GBP1-3K per annum
* Company pension via Nest with standard contributions
* Area of coverage Berkshire, Hampshire
* 23 days holiday + bank holidays
* Company van (VW Transporter with Sport trim incl Air con etc.) provided with Sortimo professional racking system (for business use only)
* Mobile phone (and tablet in due course) provided with company email address
* Uniform provided
* Tools and equipment provided
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
* be hardworking, honest, and respectable.
* have a positive approach to life
* have a disposition to learn
* be prepared to be held accountable for their time
* be a team player
* have a leaning towards practical work and be technically minded
* have a full UK driving licence
* preferably live in London or Surrey although other areas will be considered
* be fluent in English
* have neat and legible hand-writing
Training programme:
Following initial induction a technician will be required to follow some basic H & S training around issues such as Manual Handling, COSHH, vehicle inspections. They then accompany an existing technician daily for several weeks. It will also be necessary to put the candidate through some equipment manufacturer training to facilitate the proving of competence and build knowledge and experience
