About the role

Here at Babcock, we're looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Technician to join our team working as a part of our Mission Systems (MS) sector. MS forms a critical part of Babcock's Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, MS employs approximately 1,500 people across the UK and overseas with the largest sites based in Bristol, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Ashchurch.

As a Multi-Skilled Technician, you will be responsible for conducting electrical, data network infrastructure, mechanical installation and maintenance activities at UK and overseas sites. This role provides short-term resource support for various service delivery tasks and Engineering Service Tasks (EST). You will also ensure appropriate communication is maintained with all stakeholders to create and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, service sponsors and company stakeholders.

Other responsibilities will include assisting the Installation Team Leader to ensure all installation related documentation is submitted to the customer for approval prior to undertaking any installation activities and again on completion of all tasks; including method statements and risk assessments. You will then work under the direction of an Installation Team Leader and provide installation for electrical, data, mechanical and communication equipment at customer locations.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need GCSEs in Math & English at minimum grade C, Engineering qualification NVQ3, C&G th Edition Electrical Installation, C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing, C&G Communications Cabling & Networks, IOSH Managing Safely & UK Driving Licence.

We would also like you to have the following:

You should be capable of following work instructions and equipment manuals.
You should have the ability to work independently once clear direction is provided and you should understand when to make use of LEAN/5S principles to improve working practices.
Previous experience delivering engineering projects within a communications environment or electrical infrastructure.Lastly, you will need transferrable skills to succeed in this Multi-Skilled Technician role.

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
