Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (WASTE MANAGEMENT), details as follows
Job Purpose
To manage a team, Understand contracts and procurement within the waste management sector. To manage infrastructure and to prepare contract documents and reports. To ensure former landfill sites are managed in accordance with best practice guidance and legislative requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage and have an understanding of household waste recycling centres and transfer stations.
Manage and have an understanding of operational issues of household waste recycling centres and transfer stations.
Understanding of legislation around waste management.
Manage and process complaints.
Interpret and write reports.
Manage and motivate staff, anticipate the needs of team members and provide leadership, solutions and support.
Provide technical direction to staff, project team members, contractors and service users.
Develop self and others through guidance, coaching and mentoring.Essential Requirements
A degree or equivalent in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related subject with appropriate relevant post qualification experience.
Recent preparation of contract documents, contract management and site supervision of engineering and/or waste management contracts and infrastructure projects.
Experience in the management and maintenance of landfill gas and leachate control systems in compliance with best practice and legislative requirements.
Project management of a variety of high value schemes.
Experience of Budgetary control and monitoring.
Experience of Data management.
Experience of Technical, analytical and practical problem solving relative to waste management and associated civil engineering work.
Knowledge of pertinent National/European legislation and guidance with regard to waste management.
Knowledge of contract admin and management.
