Overhead Crane Operator/Steel Bander / Temp to perm / Oldbury / GBP11.10 / GBP12.61 per hour
We are currently recruiting for a large steel processing company based in Oldbury.
You will be responsible for manoeuvring steel around the workplace, loading and unloading machinery and vehicles for dispatch and banding up processed steel on the back end of a machine line. You will be required to band on the back end of the slitting line, as well as the press. Please be aware you will be expected to switch between roles as and when directed by your supervisor.
To be considered for this role you MUST have operated overhead cranes and counterbalance forklift trucks within the steel industry.
Ideally you WILL have in-date licences for counterbalance forklift trucks and overhead cranes, though if you just have the experience you will still be in with a shout.
You will be responsible for and your duties will include;
Operating overhead cranes
Operating counterbalance forklift trucks
Handling steel coil and processed steel
Helping to load and unload slitting lines and blanking presses
Loading and unloading vehicles for delivery
Any other duties as and when required
The starting rate of pay for this role will be GBP11.10 per hour on mornings / afternoons and GBP12.61 per hour on nights. You will be working three shifts, Monday - Friday; 6:00am - 2:00pm on mornings, 2:00pm - 10:00pm on afternoons and 10:00pm - 6:00am on nights, totalling 40 hours per week on each shift.
After a thirteen week probationary period through the agency you will also be eligible for a permanent contract, though you will most likely spend a longer time on the agencies books.
