This is a great opportunity for a Solutions Architect to be responsible for delivering solution designs and architectures for key IT business initiatives, hosted both in the cloud and on-premises, considering re-use, scalability, and reliability in alignment with the businesses IT strategy and core values. (Home working available if required, though you will have to go into an office environment for meetings etc.)
As a Solutions Architect, you will oversee and lead the successful implementation of these designs and architectures by managing expectations and risks and ensuring the solution meets all business, functional and non-functional requirements while delivering on-time and in budget. You will act as a bridge and translator between technical and business audiences during solution planning, development and deployment.
In this role you will create reliable solution plans that include costs estimates and delivery approaches by working with the business units, colleagues within Group IT and external software development partners.
Key Responsibilities of the Solutions Architect
Working with the business units and the PMO you will provide technical leadership, advice, and architecture on project work.
As an integral part of our Design Board process, you will provide input and architecture on updates to existing applications
Understand business goals, objectives and translate the requirements to support the development of technical solutions to meet requirements and align with strategy.
Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objective.
Combine proprietary software, 3rd party software and strategic partnerships
You will work with and be responsible for external companies used to provide tools or development as part of the build process of your designs.
Working with all levels of levels of colleagues within the Group you will need to be able to translate business requirements clearly and accurately to the technical teams as well as dilute technical details in such a way as to be palatable by different levels of the business up to and including the C-Suite directors.
You will need to work closely with many members of IT as well as the business including PMs, BAs, TAs, and developers.
Previous experience in architecting solutions is required although that experience could form part of a development role if this is the first step into a dedicated SA position.
Experience of designing applications for the cloud, particularly Azure would be advantageous.
Having previously worked in the IT Channel and understanding the channel would be a benefit, as would experience working for a company with a large sales environment.
Experience of delivering presentations to a variety of audiences and levels both internal and external to your business.
Understanding agile development methodologies and roles.
