Junior Graphic Designer

Circa GBP27,000 - GBP28,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Hybrid Working/ Stevenage (Typically 2 days per week at this location)

What you'll be doing

As the Junior Graphic Designer, you'll be working as part of the in-house design team and supporting the marketing team with the design and artworking of brand campaign assets.

In this role you'll develop a thorough understanding of our brand guidelines and applying them to a range of materials and collateral in an effective and impactful way, using our workflow and scheduling process to manage project priorities

You will also interact with other departments and functions, to deliver impactful designs that promote our brand across a diverse range of products, platforms, and events.

We're looking for an individual who can hit the ground running, manage their workflow and priorities, and turnaround design work with pace and accuracy. You'll demonstrate a fast turnaround of work, strong design initiative, and added value to your projects.

You'll have experience working in an inhouse design environment or design/create or marketing agency as well as strong design and software skills,

A little more about the role

  • Taking design briefs from stakeholders for print, web, exhibition, and campaign collateral. Creating effective, engaging, and consistent designs within brand guidelines and to UX and UI standards where suitable
  • Working on all sizes of in-house design projects from concept to completion and all interim stages, to bring creative ideas to life through high-quality design and artwork, consistently executed with precision and attention to detail, liaising with our Graphic Designer where necessary
  • Working on the in-house design workflow and scheduling process; liaising with the Graphic Designer to set priorities and manage timelines as required
  • Becoming familiar with and keeping the internal brand asset library up to date and dealing with brand imagery requests
  • Developing a thorough understanding of our IET brand
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers and agencies as necessary
  • Setting up artwork for print production and, or digital standards
  • Liaising with our marketing team, and stakeholders where necessary, over requirements, deadlines, and dependencies
  • Fulfilling brand queries, requests, and image sourcing

A little more about what we're looking for

  • Experience within an agency or corporate in-house design environment
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
  • Can demonstrate a general understanding of fundamental design principles
  • The ability to effectively prioritise and manage a challenging workload, and to work on your own initiative to deliver stakeholder satisfaction
  • You will have a proven ability to work accurately and quickly without supervision
  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Creating accurate artwork from supplied examples and creating multiple layouts from a supplied design
  • Familiarity with printing and production techniques
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; conversant in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to design in multiple digital layouts
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to follow and work within detailed brand guidelines
  • A strong eye-for-detail, precision, and quality
  • Strong design instincts, typographic design, and layout skills
  • The ability to create engaging infographics for online and print
  • Image manipulation, retouching
  • Imaginative, creative, and curious and a desire to hone and develop your skills
  • You can work well within a team as well as independently
  • The ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • The ability to effectively interpret a design brief and feedback
  • Passionate about the quality of your work, and embrace new technologies
