Hello, we’re the Pension Protection Fund. We protect millions of people in the UK who belong to defined benefit pension schemes. Our members rely on us to look after their pensions if their employers collapse and the pension schemes cannot afford to pay what they promised.
We are looking for a Credit Risk Analyst to join the team and be part of an exciting and diverse role that puts you at the heart of the PPF’s financial risk management.
The position will be responsible for analysing and monitoring insolvency risk and the pension deficits of the 500 largest defined benefit pension schemes that the PPF protects (including specific industry insights), informing senior management’s understanding of the Pension Protection Fund’s financial and operational risks.
You will report on these schemes each month via the Credit Risk Group and present your findings to senior business stakeholders on a quarterly basis. The role includes running a credit scoring model and you will need to conduct credit analysis on a subset of DB scheme sponsors identified as representing the greatest risk to the PPF.
Our ideal applicant will have experience within the fundamentals of corporate credit risk analysis. The post holder will be a strong communicator, with the ability to interact and influence internal and external stakeholders. They will need to demonstrate and organised approach to work by planning and dealing with conflicting priorities to meet deadlines. Strong Excel skills is a must for this position, with the ability to use graphing, tables, calculations, and automation efficiently to process large quantities of data relevant to business tasks; if you have SQL or modelling skills that would be great but it is not essential.
