An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ice Cream Ingredients Technician to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum, to be based at Colworth Science Park in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, MK44 (just a 40-minute drive from Milton Keynes). This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 1 year with a view to move into the apprenticeship scheme, working a 37.5-hour week, paying GBP21,600 per annum. The role expects the successful candidate to be based on-site 3-4 days per week.

We are looking to recruit a passionate individual, looking for challenges and to make a difference; with a real passion & genuine interest in Foods & Science to work in an Ice Cream Ingredients team.

The role will initially be a 1-year contract with a view to then evolving into an apprenticeship as part of the Research and Development degree apprenticeship scheme in Colworth.

Key Responsibilities

Ice Cream ingredients have an important role to play in making sure that we deliver the best tasting and highest quality Ice Cream to our consumers. The 1-year role in the Ice Cream ingredients team will involve learning about the different ingredients that make up Ice Cream such as such as oils & fats, emulsifiers, hydrocolloids & starches to be able to support the development of new Ice Creams. Activities could include collecting data and running experiments on specific ingredients, keeping ingredients databases up to date and supporting new ingredient developments.

The Research and Development degree apprenticeship scheme in Colworth is your opportunity to join an exciting and challenging area. Our apprentices follow a structured and challenging academic programme to achieve a BSc Honours degree, as well as working on real projects with world renowned scientists that deliver to some of the 2.5 billion consumers who use our products every day.

As a R&D Refreshment Apprentice, you will work with the R&D Refreshment teams leading the way in developing new products in Beverages and Ice Cream. Over the 5 years you will study for a BSc while experiencing working in different aspects of Refreshment R&D, whether it is in the Ice cream Global Design Centre to develop Ice Cream Products for the global market, designing and utilising new technology to develop products for innovations truly ahead of the competition; or in Beverages delivering world class innovations in great tasting drinks that meet the vitality needs of our consumers or in the Discover team whose aim is to be the primary source of sustainable, new science.

Key Requirements

Grade requirements

As well as English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above, you will have at least 2 science A levels (or equivalent) at grade B or above - from Maths, Chemistry, Physics, or Biology. This can be already obtained or predicted grades from current study. Please state your predicted grade in your application if you have yet to receive your results.

Skills required
