Working with and alongside our customers, we use modern software engineering methods (Scaled Agile Development, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, micro-service architectures) and cutting edge techniques (data science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning) to tackle complex and challenging problems and deliver cost effective, reliable, supportable solutions against evolving cyber security threats

As a Software Manager you will responsible for hands-on technical and managerial leadership to our software engineering teams whilst taking a practical and technical lead role within one of our customer focused projects.

Our teams are more than just Engineers, they are people who are passionate about Software and Technology. Our Software Manager should share this passion and thrive on people management, especially seeing individual growth and development within the team.

You will make a difference to our Software Engineers by giving them your total support and ensuring that they really enjoy working for us. Our customer will then get the benefit of an efficient, effective and engaged team.

We expect that you will have a Software Engineering background and have experience in guiding, managing and mentoring people and also have the technical experience as a hands on Software Engineer with knowledge of technologies and methodologies to produce quality code. You will also have an understanding of deployment infrastructure technologies.

You will have worked at a senior level and have a broad knowledge in the fields of consultancy and Systems Engineering with experience of Agile / Lean development practices.

Technical experience required;

  • Experience in the design, development, test and integration of quality software.
  • Hands-on coding experience in Java, and keen to learn a broad range of technologies in the Java stack.
  • Experience working as part of an Agile development team.

Also, we'd love it if you have experience of...

  • DevOps approaches and associated tools such as Kubernetes, Docker and Jenkins.
  • Cloud-based architectures.
  • Restful API's and microservice architecture.
  • Data Quality tools such as SonarQube.
  • Different programming languages, such as JavaScript, C++ and Python.
  • Working with open source products, such Nifi or the Elastic Stack (ELK).

Additional information for your consideration...You must be able obtain and hold UK Government clearances.
