Our client, a well known Public Sector organisation based in Glasgow, requires an Assistant HR Manager on a temporary basis for approximately 1month. Day rate is GBP156.75, working Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm, 37.5 hours per week. Travel throughout the West of Scotland region may be required. A Disclosure Scotland certificate issed in the last 12 months is a requirement of the role.

Main purpose of role:

Responsible for the management and delivery of both a professional and effective HR Service contributing to the achievement of Departmental targets and objectives. Advises Senior Management on complex employment and organisational issues, in effect being an expert in the field of HR. Actively participate in senior management meetings, ensuring HR issues are fully considered and compliant with both Employment Law and Governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Interprets, assesses and provides authoritative advice on specialist HR issues
Take a lead role in determining and implementing Organisational Change Management within the department, ensuring a consistent approach organisationally
Interprets legislation and implements organisational policy ensuring compliance with Governance requirements
Contribute to Organisational Policy through involvement in National Projects and Policy Development
Take a lead role in ensuring compliance to Staff Governance Standards, initiating, promoting and developing areas of good practice via MTU Action Plans
Promote and maintain effective Partnership working within the MTU Team working closely with staff representatives both within and external to the Service. Generally promote employee relations by demonstrating professional competence and sound judgement, where necessary developing innovative and acceptable solutions to problems
As a senior member of the respective Management Teams, contribute to the Strategic Operation of the MTU management team
Support and progress the up-skilling of managers in all areas of people management. Develop, present and evaluate appropriate training programmesKey Skills and Requirements
Chartered Membership of the CIPD or equivalent
Highly developed proven generalist HR knowledge, skills and experience (post qualification) acquired through considerable experience working at a managerial level in a large unionised environment with staffing responsibility
Proven Negotiating Skills
Additional knowledge of one or more specialist areas such as Employment Law, Industrial Relations, Training and Development, Equality & Diversity
