Accounts Assistant - Bury St Edmunds
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounts assistant to join an established and forward-thinking team in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This opportunity is offered on a fixed term contract of 12 months, however there could be permanent opportunities for the right candidate. This role would be well suited to a Part-Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) who has a strong understanding of process improvement experience.
The role:
- Assist with Project Reporting
- On-going maintenance and system improvements to relevant software (AX, the Cube, Excel etc.)
- Oversee/assist where required the preparation of weekly stats. Investigation of significant variances
- Assisting with the Month-End Process
- Prepare the calculation and processing of asset transfers.
- Prepare the calculation and processing absorption journals.
- Prepare the calculation for accruals and income recognition.
- Investigation of significant month end variances (Income and Cost) and commentary
- Prepare month end reconciliations, including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliations for relevant companies (most significantly WIP), including reconciliation of WIP Ledger to project ledger
- Preparation of BUUK monthly reporting schedules, including but not limited to Additions, Absorption, and Capital Commitments
- Prepare the reconciliation of the static data, ensuring accurate records are kept
- Undertake ad-hoc projects as may be required by the Senior Finance Management Team
- Ongoing process improvement, working with other team members to bring consistency
The candidate
- Ideally you will be a part-qualified accountant with ACCA or CIMMA or have completed your AAT level 4
- Be able to communicate across all levels up to stakeholders
- Have strong analytical skills and have previous experience with process improvement
