IT Technical Manager required by one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the UK. Our client is a leading edge provider of services to the Education industry and have over 50 different academies and over 100 IT professionals and continue to grow. The company have strong links with the local communities and have very much a family feel. This is an exciting to join the company, as they have invested a significant amount of money into their IT infrastructure with the latest Cisco and Microsoft technology.

Key Responsibilities

* Being responsible for all areas of technical ICT operations covering 3 sites - two in the Enfield area and one in Romford. You will work closely with the Regional Service Delivery Manager to deliver the ICT service

* Line Manage a group of engineers and technicians and get involved in hands on IT support, infrastructure and networking

* Develop relationships with other senior members of the team and wider team and provide advice and training on projects and technical support

* To travel to various sites to provide technical support, advice and training.

Key Skills:

* Experience required in a senior IT role which involves both people management and being technical hands on. This role will require managing between 3-5 staff with 90% line management and 10% technical hands on. This could change if the workload is greater, meaning that there will be slightly less line management and more technical hands on support required.

* Must have a strong technical background in IT support, infrastructure and networking and be able to lead, advice and train other staff on how to complete IT tasks, getting IT tasks done etc. In doing this, this person must have excellent customer service skills and be able to develop relationships with people at all levels.

* Professional certifications and qualifications are highly desirable including ITIL foundation, CompTIA A+, MCP, IT/Computer Science degree or other higher education qualification. Key skills in Windows desktops and servers, Active Directory, Exchange, Office365, Anti-Virus, IP Telephony, Cisco Routing and Switching, Wireless, VLANs, MS SQL etc.

* A Driving Licence and Car is essential for this role. The successful person will be based out of the main site in Enfield (EN3) with travel to other sites required from time to time. All travel expenses to other sites can be claimed back.

In a nutshell, our client is seeking someone with a strong technical hands on background in infrastructure, support and networking who has a little bit of team leading or people management experience and now looking to develop their people management skills further with a view to remaining hands on (hence why the role is 90% people management and 10% hands on)
