The Client

A privately owned company located in the West Midlands and Worcestershire established over 50 years ago and one of the UK's leading manufacturers in their field. This client is enjoying continued growth and is increasing their head count with the appointment of a Lean Engineer.

The Role

As Lean Engineer you will work with the Senior Management Team to identify areas of improvement and lean projects to improve efficiency whilst being aware of the current organisational structure and employees therefore implementing with empathy and managing change accordingly. You will also contribute to new business initiatives and projects and be able to provide a lean perspective / approach to new product introduction. This role will lead, define and develop continuous improvement activities designed to improve performance and will hold lean workshops and events. You will perform constant analysis of procedure and use problem solving techniques and report your findings to the board of Directors, and at all times you will ensure that Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are adhered to. For this role you will be responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of multiple Continuous Improvement Projects. The ability to lead project teams and have budgetary and costing experience and be an expert in lean methodologies is essential and you will have a combination of skills including an ability to ask questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as more general management and leadership skills that focuses on engaging and coaching people.

The Candidate

The successful applicant for the role of Lean Engineer will have excellent interpersonal skills along with excellent leadership skills and man-management skills with the ability to manage a variety of cross functional team managers. You will have exceptional written, verbal and presentational skills and be able to produce written reports, write and deliver lean presentations and be competent in problem solving, team building and decision making. In order to be successful in the role you will have a background in a manufacturing/engineering environment along with experience in lean activities, managing change and projects and you will hold a relevant qualification.
