AAK Runcorn is the home to AAK Foods, a major manufacturer and supplier of sauces, condiments and dressings to the retail and foodservice sectors.
Our private label work has won awards for taste and quality, and our products can be found on the shelves of stores throughout the world.
From our site on Davy Road, to the east of the town centre, we work with customers to co-develop new recipes for grocery private label products, retail restaurants, quick service restaurants, foodservice and food ingredients.
About the role
AAK are seeking to appoint a Specifications and Technical Administrator to join the Technical team at Runcorn, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, updating, inputting, and maintaining technical information to ensure all products have accurate and approved specifications within retailer, foodservice and internal portals or systems.
Responsibilities
• To write, process and approve product specifications involving interaction with suppliers in relation to technical queries.
• Handle day to day enquiries from customers in relation to a variety of technical issues including specifications/material queries.
• Liaise with the Supply team to ensure raw material specifications are completed and signed off.
• Develop and manage internal specifications for incoming materials and provide support to the sites Technical and Quality functions.
• Maintain retailers web based technical systems and standards and follow up on audit actions.
• Assist with copy artwork, in line with updated customer technical and labelling policies, including any regulatory changes.
• Update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with retail customer requirements and complete necessary GAP analysis.
• Support with traceability exercises and the internal auditing systems.
• Participate in site audits and customer visits.
About you
The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:
• Degree or HND in Food Technology (desirable) or hold a recognised qualification within food or similar.
• Demonstrable experience of working within a food manufacturing environment.
• Experience of working with major retailers alongside own brand products.
• Level 2 food safety.
• Understanding of HACCP.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of legal labelling legislation.
• Strong IT skills
• Able to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
