Highways Land Surveyor
Location: Manchester - M56 SMART Motorway
Negotiable
As a land surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out the review of land to ensure it is suitable for a construction project to take place.
THE PROJECT
The M56 scheme is another of Highways England's flagship Smart Motorways Programmes. The project will involve upgrading pavements, barriers and drainage as well as installation of gantries, emergency refuge areas and technical equipment to the M56 between junctions 6 and 8, to the west of Manchester Airport.
YOUR ROLE
As a land surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out the review of land to ensure it is suitable for a construction project to take place
You will:
Install and maintain of a robust network of control points on the project to enable all setting out tasks on the project can be completed to the required accuracy.
Carry out all survey related tasks as required by the project and comply with ITP systems.
Carry out and present as-built surveys.
Present data electronically and produce drawings, cross sections, graphs and spreadsheets to the satisfaction of the site teams and the client as required.
Provide support to the engineering team to ensure construction of the project is in accordance with the design provided.
Implement and maintain safe systems of work in accordance with our challenging beliefs affecting behaviours programme.
Regular assessment of any risks and hazard encountered during the execution of duties to ensure removal, reduction and mitigation of risk identified as practicable.
Minimize waste and complying with environmental legislation and site-specific controls.
Prompt reporting of any design abnormalities to the engineering team.
Ensure adequate quality assurance checks are carried out on engineering/setting out works.
Ensure survey equipment is maintained, calibrated and records of calibration are up to date.
Work accurately and precisely, promoting a culture of "right first time" and "zero defects" in all aspects of the geospatial spectrum.YOU
We are looking for passion and a willingness to deliver excellence. So, if you're a proven surveyor with extensive experience working on major highways projects (if you have SMART Motorway experience then even better) then get in touch as I want to hear from you. Obviously, you'll be competent in land surveying techniques aware of the latest setting out and monitoring techniques and have an understanding of Trimble and other survey equipment
