The Accounts Assistant role sits within a close knit accounts department, supporting the Financial Controller for this established organisation in the manufacturing and production industry sector.

My client is an established organisation within the manufacturing and production industry sector

The offices are based to the North of Leicester and are easily commutable by car or public transport. You will work with a close-knit, supportive finance team in a varied accounts position.

Description

The main responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant role include:

Liaising with both customers and suppliers daily and acting as the first point of contact for any queries
Contacting customers to collect outstanding payments and allocating payments to customer orders daily
Generating and issuing sales invoices and credit notes to customers
Processing any refunds to cancelled customer order
Raising purchase orders and sending them to the suppliers following the internal approval process
Working with the operation and production departments to ensure all purchase orders are processed,

approved, and sent to the supplier in a timely manner
Processing, matching, and posting purchase invoices on the accounting system
Checking supplier statements
General clerical duties i.e. filing, receiving calls into the main office, answering on-site visitors
Supporting the Finance Manager with managing both sales and purchase ledgers whilst providing ad-hoc administration support to the Finance team when necessary

Profile

The successful candidate for the Accounts Assistant role will have previous exposure in clerical accounting duties (purchase ledger, sales ledger, invoice processing etc.)

In addition to this, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience:

Excellent literacy and numerical skills - essential requirement for this role
A strong IT skills, using systems including Excel and a CRM system such as Sage
A high-level of self-confidence and self-motivation with the ability to work on your own initiative to manage workload
Diligent, structured, and organised approach to work - with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
A positive and 'can-do' attitude with logical problem-solving skills together with someone who takes pride in their work and is thorough and has an attention to detail
Able to work as part of a team and is willing to adapt to new processes and tasks
Polite and professional at all times
Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
