Salary: GBP36,977 - GBP41,086 FTE per annum plus benefits
Benefits: We offer a competitive salary plus excellent benefits. The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office, however we are about to enter a period of piloting hybrid working, and you may be able to work from a location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role, and that permanent working arrangements away from the office may not be agreed in the future. The role may include some days working in our London office with expenses, subject to government guidelines on travel.

About the Role:

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has a great opportunity for a Finance Systems Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent full-time basis. Our Finance & Legal team are at the heart of all financial decision making and are responsible for all internal and external financial reporting.

As a Finance Systems Accountant for the RSC, you will report to our Financial Controller and will be responsible for the on-going administration and maintenance of our finance systems (including our general ledger, financial planning and analysis tools, banking software and other finance-related applications). This is an integral role, where you will provide input to organisational projects that have a direct impact on finance systems and processes, liaising effectively with colleagues across the RSC with both technical and non-technical backgrounds. A sound grasp of accounting concepts, and interest in IT will enable you to learn and adapt to new IT systems and techniques.

Your primary focus will be to manage and maintain our Finance systems, working closely with colleagues in our Finance and Technology teams and with external suppliers, to ensure that our Finance systems remain fit-for-purpose and resilient. You will be responsible for our Finance systems training, including training and supporting end-users in the resolution of day-to-day Finance processing issues. You will also provide Finance input to the selection, design and implementation of new integrations / future phases of our core NetSuite and Adaptive finance systems, supporting our Financial Controller in ensuring that Finance team requirements are reflected in the selected systems, integrations and configuration, where appropriate.

About You:

Essential:

• A good working knowledge of financial ledger systems (preferably Oracle NetSuite) including purchase to pay and financial planning systems, to complete routine day to day set up and maintenance procedures and resolve user queries.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office, with specific emphasis on Excel.

Desirable:

• Extensive experience in accounting related roles, demonstrating a good understanding of double-entry accounting and accounting cycle requirements.
• Direct Oracle NetSuite and/or Adaptive Insights experience.
• Experience of identifying issues and delivering effective solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Experience of liaising with third-party supplier support teams to resolve system queries and implement fixes and new system functionality.
• Ability to develop a clear understanding of the key procedures and requirements of the Finance function, to explain these to colleagues to ensure compliance with systems and reporting requirements and deliver systems related training for end users.
