Import/Export Compliance Officer
Main Purpose of Job:
The Import/Export Compliance Officer will work alongside the Logistics, Purchasing and Finance Team, to assume overall responsibility for all Customs Compliance within the company, advising on all the best practises and current legislation regarding imports / exports and HMRC requirements. Maintaining a desire to continually improve the business knowledge in this area.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Managing import/exports entries and correct documentation in a timely manner.
* Working Knowledge of Commodity Codes CPC codes, safeguards and Incoterms and applicable duties.
* Develop strong relationships with Customs agents, Transport companies, Sheffield Chamber and Strong and Herd for One Call support.
* Ensure all duties and taxes are correct and in accordance with the shipment and MSS reports.
* Manage the businesses CW, IPR and OPR processes. Keeping spreadsheets up to date
* Track inbound and outgoing shipments applicable to Customs Special Procedures.
* Ensure timely HMRC submissions when required.
* Work towards bringing declarations in house.
* Admin Any other duties as required by your line Manager.
Knowledge Skills & Attributes:
* An understanding of C88, E2, S8 documentation
* Proactive and responsive
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Working knowledge of export and import legalities
* An in-depth knowledge of Incoterms 2020
Desired skills
* Experience in Customs Warehouse, IPR and OPR
* Experience in CHIEF or CDS
* Experience submitting import and export customs declarations
