Field Service Engineer - Plymouth

We are currently working with a specialist automation business that covers the electronics, medical and aerospace sector.

The purpose of this position is to provide Field Support to our customers to ensure the stable operation of our hardware & software products, which include fire control systems, Naval electro-optical surveillance systems and land/vehicle surveillance systems. This will involve installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all products and system

Key Responsibilities:

Offsite repairs to products and systems.
Installation of new products at customer sites.
After sales support and servicing to customers.
Generating post site visit reports with clear analysis of situation to include any recommendations and/or future actions in a clear and well-structured format.
Manage return to base repairs.
Support the sales team in demos and trials for customers.
Testing and evaluating potential new equipment, sensors/cameras etc., with Sales and Engineering.
Technical information support for installation/commissioning documents.
Preparation of risk assessments and SSOW's for installation/commissioning activities.
Maintain demo/trial equipment.
Driving demo vehicle (requires class C1 UK driving license).
Assisting in factory acceptance testing (FATs).
Take responsibility for personal, continuous professional development, helping to identify personal training needs and development opportunities.
Complete all administrative actions on time and accurately including weekly timesheets and status reports and annual mandatory compliance training modules
Identify and drive continuous improvement within the CLS functional area.Essential:

Have previous experience, knowledge, and exposure within the military with responsibility for naval, army or air force complex systems maintenance.
Have electronics knowledge, including microcontrollers with an understanding of basic control theory - servo tuning is required with a basic understanding of radar, optics, and communications systems
Be competent in mechanical and electro-mechanical skills and understanding.
Be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and proficiency with electrical, mechanical, and software.
Have excellent commercial, relationship management, and communication skills with key stakeholders and customers (in particular on-site with customers) with the ability to represent the company in complex situations (excellent diplomacy and upselling ability, keeping a commercial mindset at all times on behalf of the business).
Be highly organised and self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative to tight deadlines within pressurised environments.
Demonstrate core competence working with basic assembly tools.
Have a current interest and/or working knowledge of army/navy equipment/procedures.
Be able to work in exposed/adverse conditions (equipment on vehicle and ships at sea) and comfortable working at heights and in military environments (Land and Naval).
Must be willing to travel worldwide within at short notice, working extended hours (when necessary).
Ability to hold UK SC Clearance.
