STFC (part of UK Research and Innovation) are seeking a Project Support Officer to contribute in ensuring the effective start-up, management and delivery of projects within the Hartree Center (Part of STFC).

As part of our Hartree Centre Programme Management Office, the post holder will be responsible for supporting internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of a range of exciting projects across industry and academia. These projects cover a broad range of sectors and number of subject areas including; Data Science, Research Software Engineering, High Performance System Architecture and High Performance Computing.

You will identify requirements for successful project delivery whilst adhering to agreed delivery dates, aswell as supporting the day-to-day management of operational aspects to each project. You will work closely with various stakeholder whilst also ensuring various project documentation is maintained. Contribution to ongoing process improvements across both Hartree PMO and the wider centre is expected.

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Understands and demonstrates the skills needed to work in a project delivery environment, preferably in a computing or scientific field
  • Demonstrates a proactive demeanour to problem solving, handling risks, escalating issues that arise where appropriate
  • Demonstrates ability in influencing colleagues and collaborators from a wide range of backgrounds and subject areas towards achievement of agreed deliverables
  • Able to absorb technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences of varying seniority
  • Whilst not essential, current or previous experience of working as a PSO is desired
