Tooling Technician (Fitter)
Job Description
Duties
Complete all tool fits and insert changes safely and to a high standard in the required time.
Maintain the toolfitting trolley 5S ensure equipment on it is looked after and maintained
Support the NPI process by reporting new tooling issues when fitting
Complete maintenance on machine chests
Communicate all issues and keep all departments informed of all activities.
Assist with training in fitting
Have the ability to setup a machine and understand our process
Complete the first drop of parts on your toolfit to ensure your tool fit has no issues.
Understand the first off procedure and support the process
Have the ability to prep and deprep tools in order to understand the process and to support when required
Maintain your machines as per the machine ownership programme, improve the visual appearance of your machines as well as the functional
Complete any tasks given by the team leader including but not limited to, break covering, tech duties, 5S, housekeeping and repair work etc
Complete 12 improvements a year
Procedures
Complete a tooling report sheet and place it in the report tray for the tool supervisor every time you experience any issues or have recommended improvements, also give feedback on report sheet.
Complete any job sheets
Complete all tooling paperwork, fill in the rating systems and report any issues.
Follow 5s procedures at the start and during your shift.
Complete 1 major improvement every month and assist with general improvements
Assist with Tool fitting & Tool prep operations including gun maintenance etc.
Follow the production plan daily for tool fit times and the order of which to do the preps in.
Complete combi-lift checks.
Safety
1. Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE.
2. Report all safety issues.
3. Take part in keeping yourself and others working safe at all times
4. Makes sure you and everyone around you are following all safety rules, from lock out tag out to wearing PPE etc.
5. Any safety breaches can result in dismissal
6. Ensure you always lock out machines and that you are trained on equipment before using it.
Housekeeping
1. Never leave any area untidy for the next shift; you should leave everything as you would like to receive it.
2. Complete any 5's reports
3. Any poor housekeeping passed on to another shift will not be tolerated; you should always leave the place 100%.
4. Complete housekeeping as requested.
5. Ensure your allocated presses for housekeeping are up to date and of a good standard
Handovers
Complete a handover with the previous and oncoming shift and pass on any issues.
Working Hours
3 shifts rotating - 6am-2pm, 10pm - 6am, 2pm - 10pm
