Shift Manager

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

Ensures high standards of the customer experience are maintained at all times.

Going above and beyond the customer's expectations.

Leading by example displaying excellent customer service behaviours.

Resolves customer complaints and turns potentially negative situations into positive ones.

Works with the Assistant Manager and Restaurant Manager to maintain operation efficiency, through training of team members.

Assists in maximising team member coverage at all times, performs the role of floor leadership and works as required in various areas during busy periods to maintain optimal customer service levels.

People

Motivating and encouraging a team to achieve targets and deliver the best possible customer experience.

Celebrates successes and escalates feedback to Senior Restaurant Management team

Provides employees with information and support they require to carry out their roles.

Listens to employee feedback of suggestions and concerns, escalating them to the Assistant and Restaurant Manager.

Assists the Assistant and Restaurant Manager in building the restaurants' "bench strength" by identifying and developing high potential employees for progression to the next level.

Assisting with team member scheduling to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.

Understands the importance of supporting the whole Management team and presents a 'unified front' to all team members.

Supports where required in any HR related matters.

Driving Sales

Assists in running incentive programmes to encourage continuous improvement.

Coaches employees on an ongoing basis to up sell and suggestive sell to customers.

Works at positioning of employees to ensure fast, friendly and efficient service.

Taking responsibility for presentation of products, ensuring they are correctly merchandised and stocked to agreed levels.

Operations

Understands and takes responsibility to helping the restaurant to achieve key performance indicators set for the restaurant on a daily basis including sales, food, labour and wastage cost, daily transactions, speed of service, SMG and Product management system compliance.

Communicates day to day operations and critical areas of focus with the team.

Be the strength on challenging shifts, set the example for your team by keeping a cool head under pressure.

Responsible for daily cash procedures and assists with financial reporting.

Assists with end of day reports i.e. Daily cash sheets, deposits, sales, waste and inventory.

Educates employees with regard to the restaurant's health and safety policies and procedures.

Assists with ordering of supplies and overall building maintenance and cleanliness.

Knows, understands and follows safe work practices and procedures in line with company standards and legislation.

Reports all injuries/illness, accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents and any contravention of health and safety legislation, policies and procedures to the Assistant and Restaurant Manager.

Displays knowledge of and works within compliance to applicable legislation including, food safety, health and safety, and employment standards.

Works to the maintenance programme/schedule for all equipment for preventative maintenance and calibration purposes.

Maintains optimal inventory levels and ensures the store is getting proper yields from all products.

Maintaining operational standards within the restaurant, such as food quality, food hygiene standards, customer experience, speed of service and hospitality, restaurant cleanliness and the restaurant team's presentation and grooming standards.

Manage, maintain, and report daily stock of all food, beverage and equipment & supply items and ensure that food deliveries are correctly checked, stored and entered into the epos system

Ensure equipment and surfaces are regularly monitored in regards to food.

Ensure adherence to the restaurant opening and closing procedures.

Be available at the times required of you to work a variety of shifts.

Support the entire team in operations during busy times to ensure output is achieved in line with the company's KPIs

Requirements

Must have a flexible and disciplined approach to work

Some experience of working in a food environment is essential

Able to work as part of a team and on their own

NVQ Level 3/BTEC/Higher Secondary School equivalent required.

Fluent in the English Language (Minimum B1 level)

Knowledge of Food hygiene would be advantageous

Understanding of Health & Safety
