South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue require an Emergency Planning Officer to work on a wide range of contingency and other plans.

Salary: £36,922 to £39,880 (Grade 9)
Hours: Full Time - 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time)
Work Pattern: Mon – Fri
Location: CHQ Sheffield / Agile Working

The successful candidate will be responsible for plans covering major public venues and natural hazards, COMAH sites, Pipelines, Radiation, as well as Protective Security, Resilience and Business Continuity functions.

The post will involve working on complex multi-disciplinary issues and representing SYFR at multi-agency planning meetings and exercises. You will represent SYFR at Local Resilience Forum sub-committee meetings. Additionally the post holder will hold Management responsibility for an Emergency Planning Assistant and the National Resilience Training Team.

You will be educated to degree standard and possess a working knowledge of currently applicable legislation including the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015, the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and ISO22301.

It would be desirable for you to have gained experience of working in emergency planning, Resilience, Business Continuity or related fields.

You will be resilient under pressure, possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work both on your own and as part of team.  You will be capable of delivering high quality written reports and presentations against demanding deadlines.

The post will involve occasional evening and weekend work by prior arrangement and a current driving licence would be advantageous.  The appointment will be subject to security clearance from HM Government.
