CNC Machinist (Senior/Supervisor)
Location - Chesterfield
Salary - GBP30,000 - GBP35,000
Hours:
Monday-Thursday 7am-3.30pm
Friday-7am-1pm
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Supervisory CNC Machinist to join a growing company to Set, Operate and Programme a range of Mazak and Okuma CNC machines.
Our client incorporates the best in precision engineering using in house assembly lines and pressure testing facilities as well as electroless nickel plating, gear cutting and machining to provide products for use in some of the harshest environments such as the oil & gas & aerospace industries.
The ideal candidate for the role of Senior CNC Machinist will have already been exposed to some supervisory experience but still have a 'hands on' approach to the role creating new CNC programme on Fanuc/Mazatrol operating systems whilst acting as the 'go to' on the shopfloor for any technical knowledge and liaising between shop floor staff and management teams.
Main responsibilities as a Senior CNC Machinist:
Supervision of the shop floor using lean tool and pushing efficiencies
Supporting the Production Manager with People Management, culture,121's and communication
Spokesman for shop floor employees
First point of contact for Shop Floor employees
Set and operate specific machines to produce components from British Standard drawings
First off inspection of components machined by other operators
Check produced components using appropriate measuring & gauging equipment
Modify & edit existing CNC programs in line with QMS requirements
Create new CNC programs
Work with Technical Engineers to improve machining methods, shortening cycle times and fully utilising machinery and tooling capabilities
Raise any non-conformance issues on any item as soon as they are identified
Endorse the shop floor area housekeeping, promoting the importance of a clean, tidy and safe working environment in accordance wth 5S practices
Assist in setup reduction, lean, continuous improvement activities as required
Carry out any planned preventative maintenance as specified.
Key Skills as a Senior CNC Machinist:
Supervisory/Team Leader experience
Fanuc/Mazatrol programming experience
Ability to be able to communicate effectively
An organised, careful methodical worker
Good problem-solving/creativity skills
Teamwork skills
Positive attitude and energy
