As a Senior Test Engineer you'll be at the forefront of application development and testing, assuring that every digital product works optimally for the millions of UK citizens that rely on DWP's digital services.

You'll be using your skills and knowledge in test automation, to develop and implement thorough testing approaches to assure service usability, accessibility, security and stability.

You'll have the people skills to provide in-depth feedback to development teams and to our stakeholders.

You'll be an important part of our Test community. You'll be seen as a leader and a coach to other test engineers, and share best practice with your peers in testing, engineering and beyond. And as you grow your skills and your career with us, there will be lots of support, insight and expertise for you to tap into too.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • You can design and execute a wide range of non-functional testing techniques and communicate non-functional test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You can make decisions on running types of non-functional testing. You can to raise defects with the business and help prioritise them based on defect severity.
  • You have the skills and knowledge of test engineering to coach and mentor others.
  • You understand Agile Methodologies - with experience of BDD (behaviour driven development) and TDD (test driven development) processes, and of the key principles to develop a modern standards approach to testing, including collaborating effectively with other disciplines.
  • Experience in the development of automated test suites and tools including Java, Selenium v3.14.1+, Cucumber.
  • Experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery - Methodology and tools (i.e. Jenkins v2.11+, Git).
  • An understanding of the test phases and standards associated to Performance Test, Accessibility Test, Security Test and Compatibility Test.
  • Experience of API Testing cloud-based REST services.
