We are currently recruiting for a permanent Caretaker to work at a school in Ripon. The role is full time position working 40 hours a week working a split shift. Days start at 6am to open the school, you'll then go home over lunch time and return later to close the school, finishing at 6pm. An example of the hours would be 6am - 10am and 2pm - 6pm however they are flexible if your start and finish at 6. This would suit someone local who can get to the site easily.
The main aim of this role is to manage all facilities and safety aspects of the school to provide a positive working environment for the students and staff.
Duties of the role include:
Ensuring security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, monitoring third party contractors.
Conduct initial investigations for reactive requests, carrying out the repairs or reporting the damage to the helpdesk
Carry out daily tasks i.e. litter picking, spot cleaning toilets, replenishing toilet role
Respond to emergency situations such as floods, bodily fluids and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales
Respond to request for collection of parcels, movement of furniture rearrangement of rooms etc in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales
Be observant for H&S issues and ensure that they are rectified or made safe and reported to management
Being proactive by noticing deficiencies in the facilities and either rectifying if within capabilities or bringing the defect to the attention of management
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an education facility as a caretaker however training is provided so as long as you are willing to learn, able to pass a DBS check and able to work the hours they are open to all applications.
Good customer service skills
Amenable and approachable personality
Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training to develop role
Flexible and adaptable in approach
Able to work the shift pattern and out of hours calls as needed
Enhanced DBS check
