Product Manager wanted for a permanent position with a hugely successful ERP software reseller (around 120 people and growing) who sell, implement and support 4 ERP solutions. The role is mainly office based, but there is flexibility for home working days, and some visits to client sites from time to time. You will report in to the Product Director, and work closely with every department involved with the solutions. To GBP50k plus bonus, OTE GBP70k, plus benefits and private healthcare.

The job will suit someone with a broad understanding of ERP software solutions from a project management, product management, development, business and technical viewpoint, who has some product management experience gained from working for a software vendor or reseller. You have a good understanding of the challenges faced in identifying product improvements, and being able to shape solutions that will make a real difference to the customer experience.

Software product management requires competence on many levels and is a juggling of many areas of management. The role is about understanding and defining what the customers need, to create ERP products that meet their demands, and owning the 'go to market' product life cycle, working with the senior leadership team, the development teams, sales and marketing and legal people, owning and delivering the product roadmap, and bringing new products and new releases to the market of a very high standard.

You need to analyse the market and the competitors, get information from current ERP clients to figure out their pain points, and create a customer profile that will dictate what the product will look like and how it will be positioned. The roadmap must show the current and future state of product development and illustrate the vision and goals, highlighting which features should be prioritised and which ones should be discarded or developed in the future.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the ERP solutions are commercially viable and profitable, and after product launch, you will monitor how well they are performing in the sector and decide on product improvements based on the market response.

You are a strategist and a visionary, who can analyse, research, identity, plan and introduce ERP software solutions, identity defects, and articulate your ideas and vision, providing detailed business analysis to the development team and convincing the management teams of their viability. You are essentially the father and the carer of these ERP software products, and you will know when to retire the ones that are no longer effective or competitive.
