Firmware Test Engineer
London
GBP35K - GBP45K + package
My Client are looking for a Firmware Test Engineer to join their team in central London due to growth in their business. You will be expected to contribute in the deployment of production of software whilst leading embedded firmware testing to ensure robustness and performance of their production.
Role Requirements:
Quickly learn and understand the functional requirements of the entire system
Define test cases and implement test strategies for our proprietary Hardware and Firmware whilst working with our firmware and hardware engineers
Wrist and execute test plans, testing scripts and maintain documentation.
Create test hardware and software (using python or other high-level language) that is able to exercise the functional modules of the requitement by automating manual tests and feedback test data.
Read and understand electronic datasheets and schematics
Use oscilloscopes, hardware debugging tools and identifying/excluding hardware faults
Build rigs, hardware testers in collaboration with the hardware team.
Work to resolve any testing-related blockers/impediments
Communicate with internal, and outsourced development partners about test status project progress, and issue resolution.
Experience:
Experience working in an agile environment within a team.
Familiarity with embedded IDEs, and C/C++ programming languages.
Familiarity with open source hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino) and using sensors, actuators, relays etc.
Designing and carrying out, system integration and regression tests.
Familiarity with embedded hardware based on ARM-Cortex microcontrollers
Solid understanding of Git, and issue tracking tools
Past experience brining a product to the mark is a major bonus. As is working within a start-up, small team or high-paced environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Computer Engineering or STEM equivalent.
5+ years of industry experience writing, debugging, and shipping embedded firmware
Demonstrable experience as a test engineer in addition to developer is a bonus.
