Policy and Planning Manager
Based Manchester

Fantastic Opportunity to join a leading Regulatory Body, this role would suit someone with experience of developing and implementing policy and guidance, including undertaking equality analyses as part of the development process.
Job purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of creative, proportionate, pragmatic and evidence-based policy or strategy, processses and guidance to support delivery of the regulatory policy programme. Working closely with policy, strategy, project and operational colleagues and teams across the company and with external stakeholders, the post-holder will play an integral part in contributing to delivering the business and recovery plans, as well as our corporate strategy.
Main responsibilities
1 Developing evidence-based policy proposals, strategy, guidance or other protocols, in line with procedures and guidance, including where appropriate the policy framework.

2 Leading policy projects and working collaboratively, as required, with internal project teams, colleagues across the company and advisers outside it to deliver practical and operationally effective policy or strategy proposals within agreed milestones. You'll need to develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and influence these stakeholders.
3 Developing the compnay position on rapidly developing policy issues relevant to your area of work, and providing expert policy governance papers, briefings and presentations for key internal and external audiences.
4 Clarifying and setting out the position on existing policy issues in response to external reviews, inquiries, queries and consultations.
5 Undertaking equality analyses.
6 Developing and overseeing research and undertaking engagement and consultation activity required as part of the policy development process.
7 Representing the company at external meetings across the UK and travelling to the various offices across the UK, as required.
8 Where the role has line management responsibilities, providing effective and inclusive management and leadership to a team supporting their personal development and helping to develop their skills and knowledge in line with the Directorate's work and values.
9 Creating an environment that nurtures and empowers staff to work autonomously and make decisions, including trying out new approaches, and can fulfil their full potential.
10 Creating an inclusive environment, ensuring equality and diversity is considered in policy and practices relevant to the role.
11 Applying the relevant management systems, procedures and policies relating to staff management, staff wellbeing, risk management, health and safety, information security and business continuity.
12 Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time
