Job Title: Metrology Technician

Role:

To provide resource and support of on-site metrology, calibration, Final
Inspection cover, and any other Quality Assurance tasks as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner – adhere to all KPM-UK Health and Safety requirements
  • Comply with, and promote compliance with the Quality Management System
  • Provide support when required to QA or Production activities (i.e., problem solving, training, verification activities, PPAP)
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment including organisation and storage of samples, gauges, and equipment

Metrology

  • Carry out measurement of materials in a timely and accurate manner against relevant specifications using appropriate means and methods
  • Produce measurement reports and maintain traceability of measurement samples and records

Calibration & Gauge Management

  • Calibration of internal gauges and measuring equipment to applicable standards
  • Arrange external calibration of gauges as required
  • Administration and control of the Gauge Management System to ensure gauge traceability, status, and wear characteristics
  • Produce and communicate gauge calibration recall lists
  • Ordering of new or replacement Gauges
  • Gauge planning and procurement in liaison with QA/PED Engineers
  • Gauge repair/servicing internally as appropriate, whenever possible prior to requesting external intervention

End-of-Line Final Inspection

  • When necessary (sickness, holiday, workload), provide cover for Final Inspection; flexibility to work shifts required.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualifications in Mathematics and English
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge and experience of using dimensional metrology instruments and equipment
  • Organised and methodical
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Consistency in achieving set tasks and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Willingness to learn

Desirable

  • CMM operation / programming
  • Previous calibration experience
  • Previous inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of standards relevant to metrology
