Pen Green Centre is a fully integrated Centre for children and families on the Lloyds estate in Corby, Northamptonshire. Pen Green represents a successful model of an integrated Centre including a maintained Nursery School, Early Years provision, Family Support, Research, Training and Development Base and a Teaching School.

As one of the largest fully integrated centres in the country, Pen Green has an international reputation and has always been judged Outstanding by Ofsted.

We have a vacancy for a Family Worker, Grade H, full time 37 hours per week.  This position is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months at Grade H, £23,080 per annum.

The main focus of the role is to provide high quality education with care for children in partnership with their parents and to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working within an integrated nursery provision.

Key Requirements;

  • To work as a Family Worker (key worker) in the nursery, including home visiting families in your family group, to discuss each child’s individual needs.  To encourage parents to be active partners in their child’s learning.  To ensure that parents are fully supported to access the full range of the Centre’s services.
  • To work as an equal and active member of the Nursery team in order to develop appropriate and differentiated education with care for children.  Where necessary, to make recommendations to the Centre SENCo and other agencies involved,
  • To plan learning opportunities for each individual child, in partnership with their parents/carers and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • To systematically monitor and assess all children, celebrating their achievements. To identify children with additional education, social and emotional needs and plan interventions.
  • To maintain developmental records for assessment purposes and contribute to confidential files and reports. The Family Worker will be required to attend network meetings, and case reviews.

Key Requirements:

  • NNEB or equivalent, BTEC (Nursery Nursing/Early Years) equivalent NVQ level 3 Early Years Educator (in accordance with DfE pre and post 2014 list of full and relevant qualifications) or other teaching qualifications related to Nursery Education or graduate with a relevant degree with experience of working with children.
  • GCSE English & Maths.
  • Working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Experience of key working and home visiting.
  • Experience of working with adults in a supportive and advisory capacity.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
