School Leaver Job Description

ACA Cheltenham (School Leaver Level 7 Apprenticeship)

Joining us through the ACA route means you can study to be a Chartered Accountant without the financial burden of having to go to university first. You would join us once you have achieved your A-levels as a Level 4 Apprentice.

The ACA route will be a 5 year journey to becoming ACA qualified while on the job and we facilitate your training, exams and all other elements of study.

Throughout your study you will have exposure to our huge portfolio of clients across:

  • Corporate Audit
  • Non profit
  • Pension Funds
  • Professional Practices

Your 5 years to full qualification will encompass:

Year 1:

  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Business writing skills training
  • Effective time management
  • Completing the ICAEW Modules: Accounting, Assurance, principles of Taxation, Business & Finance and Law

Year 2:

  • Perfecting Presentation skills
  • Completing the ICAEW Module for Management Information

Year 3, 4 & 5:

  • Completing the exam modules for the ICAEW: Financial Management, Business Planning Taxation and Business Strategy, Corporate reporting, Strategic Business Management and the Case Study followed by an End Point Assessment.

Graduate Job Description

If your chosen area in Cheltenham is within Audit, you will study the ACA route via ICAEW while working within areas of the business and clients such as:

  • Corporate Audit
  • Non Profit
  • Pension Funds
  • Professional Practices

We would aim to build you up year by year via our 3 year Level 7 apprenticeship route:

First Year:

  • Your first year would consist of perfecting your auditing skills while passing your exams
  • You will be completing the ICAEW Certificate level modules of Accounting, Assurance, Business & Finance, Law, Management Information and Principles of Taxation

Second Year:

  • Your second year you would further enhance your audit skills with the addition of responsibility of looking after a first year Apprentice
  • You would also manage a first year apprentice on an Audit while undertaking your exams for your second year
  • By the end of the second year, you could be leading your own audits
  • You will also complete the ICAEW Professional Level modules including Business and Planning, Business Strategy and Financial Management. While covering off Audit & Assurance, Financial Accounting & Reporting and Tax Compliance.

Third Year:

  • Leading your own Audit team
  • Reviewing work done by the team with written feedback
  • Planning and running Audits
  • Sitting and passing exams
  • In this final year, you will complete the ICAEW Advanced Level Modules including Corporate reporting, Strategic Business Management and a Case study

Our minimum requirements for school leaver and graduate applications:

  • An expected or achieved 2:1 or equivalent (for graduate applications).
  • BBC (or equivalent UCAS points) from three A Levels (or equivalent) (for graduate and school leaver applications).
  • GCSE grade 5 or above in Maths and English Language (for graduate and school leaver applications).
  • Driving licence (preferred) (for graduate and school leaver applications).
