About the role
Here at Cavendish Nuclear we're looking to recruit 3 new Mechanical Engineers to join the Engineering team working within our nuclear business unit in Birchwood, Warrington. We are part of the FTSE 250 defence and engineering global organisation Babcock International and are based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas.

As a Mechanical Engineer you'll provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.

You'll carry out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements within your specialist subject area. You'll assist with the effective management of the customer, through interfacing with customers and supply chain on design issues and assisting with procurement specifications; ensuring procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.

You'll be working on a range of challenging engineering problems involving high levels of complexity and uncertainty, promoting effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams

What do I need to do the role?
You'll be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and have significant experience in delivering fit for purpose mechanical design solutions to cost and schedule.

We would also like you to have the following:-

  • Ability to break down a problem/issue into constituent parts and present options for resolution
  • Working knowledge of regulations relevant to the delivery of machinery (SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER etc.)
  • Familiar with engineering drawings and standards relevant to their production e.g. BS 8888 & GPS
  • Experience of conventional engineering calculations in accordance with BS 2573 or similar standards
  • Fully aware of Health & Safety standards, Good Practice Guides and ISO standards.

Lastly, you'll have good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and reporting) and the ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders and teams at all levels of the business.
