Housing Solicitor

Nottingham Law Centre is seeking an experienced housing solicitor who meets the housing supervisor standard.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to demonstrate that they have knowledge and experience of advice across the range of legally aided housing law matters. Experience of advising at Court under a Court Desk scheme will also be an advantage.

Duties

In accordance with Law Centre policies to;

1. To work in conjunction with the Senior Solicitor, and other Law Centre staff, to provide a housing advice and assistance service through face to face, telephone and online advice and on-going casework;
2. To contribute to the delivery of the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme and provide follow-up advice and assistance to individuals as required;
3. To represent clients at court hearings and tribunals;
4. To maintain clear, accurate and accessible records of all casework undertaken in line with Nottingham Law Centre’s policies and procedures, and the Lexcel Quality Mark requirements;
5. To record statistical and administrative information relating to casework and enquiries;
6. To undertake file reviews and maintain the supervisor standard;
7. To provide office supervision in the absence of the Senior Solicitor;
8. To provide monitoring information and case studies for the funders of the service;
9. To contribute to the Law Centre’s policy formulation and planning;
10. To carry out the duties of the post with due regard to Nottingham Law Centre’s policies and procedures;
11. To maintain SRA competence standards by attending training and keeping up to date with legislative changes and local policies;
12. In addition to the tasks and duties listed above, to undertake such duties as may be identified from time to time and which are generally compatible with the functions of the post.
