We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join us and to help us BE THE BEST, supporting our clinical teams in all aspects of Care. We have various opportunities around our sites to join our wards/departments as Trainee Healthcare Support Workers.

This is an exciting opportunity to either take a first step and start or continue to develop your career in Healthcare.

Part-Time or Full-Time opportunities are available, working 30 - 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work shifts including long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays appropriate to your clinical area.

You will be required to attend an Induction programme which runs full-time Monday to Friday for 1 week. Can you confirm that you will be able to attend for full-time hours where required?

A small number of our wards care for patients that have been exposed to COVID or are COVID positive and you may be offered a post on any of these areas with appropriate training and PPE - Please can you confirm that you are aware that this may be possible if you are offered employment?

Are you a people person?

Do you have extensive experience of working with the hospitality/ customer service sectors? Or do you already have experience of working as a Healthcare Support worker?

Would you like the opportunity to gain experience in a busy acute care environment?

If so and you feel you have the transferable experience and competent numeracy and literacy skills this opportunity could be for you.

If you are new to healthcare you will have the opportunity to work towards gaining the care certificate through this induction period. This is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It is made up of the 15 minimum standards. Whether you have previous care experience or not you will be well supported in your new working environment.

Areas we are recruiting to will include:

Operating Theatres at Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) & Queens Hospital Burton (QHB)
Endocopy Department at QHB
Adult Wards caring for patients with a range of conditions at RDH & QHB

Children's Wards at RDH
Adult Assessment Areas caring for patients following admission RDH

Annual Leave Entitlement

27 days Annual Leave per annum (plus Bank holiday entitlement)

The Trust will provide you with a comprehensive induction, which will include:

Manual and Patient handling
Resuscitation training
Infection Control and Prevention
Observations

You will have the opportunity to work towards gaining the care certificate through this induction period. This is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care'.

Working under supervision, HCAs duties will include observing, monitoring and recording patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight. communication with patients, relatives and carers. Assisting with clinical duties and personal care including infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort and safety.
