Through our unique offering, providing services from feasibility and design, to construction and handover, our Water business provides 'Full Asset Lifecycle Thinking' across our projects, in both the clean and wastewater environments. We currently deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for 10 of the largest national water sector companies.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant QS based out of either our Plymouth offices. Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will work alongside the Commercial team to ensure the profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting. The role offers long term stability and varied project opportunities across our SWW Frameworks (Major Capital, MEICA Capital & Minor Works) and other external clients, predominantly in the water industry.

What you'll be doing day to day

Supporting the Project and Commercial teams in the day to day management of a range of contracts in allocated business units
Compilation and preparation of monthly cost and value reports (CVR's)
Assisting with contract administration including management of the early warning and compensation events processes
Taking part in contract/CTC reviews
Compiling and submission of monthly applications for payment in accordance with client requirements
Compiling and submission of cost profiles
Assisting in the submissions of final accounts
Subcontractor financial management of accounts and assistance in subcontract administration
Ensuring accurate allocation of costs to projects and populating journals to correct any identified anomalies
Ensuring that applications for payment are certified and paid by clients on the specified dates within the contract in addition to actively pursuing cash for aged debt
Monitoring actual spend of staff/labour resources against forecasted
Preparing and requesting documentation for contractual close out of projects to include completion certificates, defects expiry certificates, and final account certificates
Assist in the preparation / evaluation / submission of claims for varied works
Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement
Work with construction teams to identify and manage variances to budgets and report this information as required
Preparation of monthly management and financial performance reports
Any further commercial duties assigned at the discretion of the Quantity Surveyor The experience we are looking for in a candidate

Commercial and contractual awareness
Analytical
A good level of competency of Microsoft packages
The ability to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management would be advantageous
Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture
