This is an excellent opportunity to join our team as a Cook providing our Residents with a varied, healthy and appetising choice of meals at Fairhaven.

Our home is in Northampton and provides a safe and stimulating environment for adults with mental health diagnosis. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy, active and fulfilling life, regardless of their background or disability.

About the role

You'll be developing menus with the Residents making sure you take account of allergen awareness and Safer Food Better Business guidelines. Working within an allocated budget you'll be responsible for ensuring the food orders each week are correctly made. And of course you'll be cooking the meals as well as ensuring the kitchen is kept clean, pleasant and safe.

About you

You'll need to be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene and hold a level 1 or 2 NVQ in food handling and hygiene. Passionate about providing good quality meals and maintaining a safe and clean working environment you'll want to ensure good food is an integral part of the home we offer. You'll use your clear communication skills to work with the rest of the staff team, keep accurate records and also engage with our service users to ensure their needs are met.

We need to cover our kitchen 2 days a week. You will be working a total of 16 hours per week, between the hours of 08:30 - 13:30 during week days or between 12:30 to 17:30 every other weekend.

What can we offer you?

We expect all candidates to share our commitment to safeguarding, and all posts are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which is paid for.

You'll undertake a bespoke induction programme tailored to the specific job role and will complete training through a blended learning approach. You will also receive bespoke specialist training that reflects the needs of the service and your personal development.

We have a great employee benefits platform called Perk box, this includes over 200 different exclusive perks and discounts such as cinema tickets, flights/holidays, theme parks, days out plus much more! You'll also have access to a private and confidential employee support helpline, covering a wide range of topics including financial advice, health and well being and more. This is all available 24 hours a day 7 days a week
