Salary - GBP17,920 per annum (GBP9.50 per hour)
For over 50 years, our client has worked with its members, partners and supporters in pursuit of its vision of healthy, resilient ecosystems across Scotland's land and seas. They are proud to have the support of more than 40,000 members, 1,000 volunteers and 20 local (volunteer led) groups.
The vision of their project is to put nature at the heart of Cumbernauld's future by creating a community network that connects a wider range of people to nature as well as improving the quality of Cumbernauld's greenspaces for people and wildlife.
They are currently seeking a Trainee to join this project. The main purpose of this role is to focus on the goals of the project, improving Cumbernauld's woods, parks, and open spaces for both wildlife and local people. With support from three dedicated Project Officers, you will assist in the delivery of workshops connecting young people to the natural environment, outdoor sessions which help people at risk of poor health and wellbeing along with working on various conservation tasks.
Your main responsibilities will include:
??? Assisting in the delivery of practical volunteer days
??? Ensuring the safety of all participants
??? Supporting the community to organise, publicise and deliver public events at their local open space
??? Participating in community outreach events
??? Supporting the delivery or workshops within schools
The successful candidate will:
??? Be educated to NAT level 4 / 5 or equivalent
??? Have a passion for motivating others
??? Be used to spending time outside either for leisure or work purposes
??? Have knowledge of Scottish conservation issues and the Cumbernauld Living Landscape
??? Have an understanding of the importance of health and safety
??? Be confident when using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
??? Have strong communication skills along with being an excellent team player
??? Have experience of working with people in outdoor environments (eg - Scouts, Army cadets) (advantageous)
??? Have a full driving licence (advantageous)
