Purpose of the role:

  • Processing all payroll frequencies as required accurately and within accepted timescales.
  • Responsible for HMRC compliance by ensuring the RTI submissions are correct and sent within the deadlines
  • Deal with queries arising from colleagues in relation to their pay
  • Produce reports using excel spreadsheets for financial use

What you will be responsible for:

  • Electronically transferring the hours worked into the payroll and verifying the data
  • Liaising with People Team regarding starters, leavers and changes to colleague's pay
  • Calculate payments and deductions for Attachment of earnings, SMP, SPP, Sick pay and holiday pay
  • Fulfilling statutory obligations to Government Departments.
  • Professional and prompt dealing with external and internal payroll related enquiries.
  • Maintaining the ITrent data base related to payroll.
  • Process, check and validate all expenses within timescales set
  • Assist line managers in dealing with expense queries as required.
  • Help to provide a fast, friendly service to internal and external customers
  • Respond promptly to telephone calls, enquiries and requests as required. Deal with them efficiently and effectively.
  • Plan and organise work load and time effectively to maximise efficient payroll processing
  • Review payroll systems and procedures and suggest ideas to develop, enhance, improve or steam-line where appropriate to obtain a more efficient system

Skills/experience required:

  • Minimum of 2 years payroll experience
  • Strong Excel and Word competencies
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Works enthusiastically and demonstrates personal drive and determination
  • Detailed and thorough with good interpersonal skills
  • Be motivated to make a difference
  • CIPP dQualified desirable but not essential
  • Experience of using ITrent desirable but not essential
