Quantity Surveyor - Holytown (GBP40k - GBP50k + car allowance)
Morson International are working with a leading broadband provider who are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Holytown/Glasgow
Reporting into the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will have the ownership of an entire regions commercial activities, including cost management, forecasting and WIP (work in progress) management.
The role requires a professional individual who can manage both internal and external stakeholders, an understanding of budgeting and cost control and ability to manage several commercial and cost administrators
The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position.
The Quantity Surveyor will:
The preparation of tender and contract documents
Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
Analysing outcomes and writing detailed reports.
Setting up and managing subcontract agreements, regular meetings and final accounts.
Identifying and responding to commercial risks.
Preparation and submission of monthly/interim valuations certs. Validate quantities invoiced by subcontractors.
Order of cost estimates.
Send Purchase and Work Orders in accordance with our contracts.
Assessing and agreeing final accounts and arranging payments.
Track Cost/Change/Variations.
Performing risk, value management and cost control.
Measurement and preparation of budget estimates.
Undertake site visits, carry out site audits.
Advising on procurement strategy
To actively lead by example at all times as a representative of the company ensuring that all working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent and to the highest standards.
Cost Controller Tasks:
Assist in producing the activity and cash flow forecasts.
Participate to the review and validation of periodical project reviews (budget, change, variations).
Ensure that the company financial system is compliant and robust: use of SAP as reporting tool.
Process related invoices and monitoring of paid costs.
Ensure accuracy of time costs allocation through investigating time-sheet errors and incorrect coding
Implement cost control initiatives for improved efficiency and accuracy in the procure-to-pay process.
Report cost and progress variations to that planned (budgeted) or previously reported.
Establish contracts and purchase orders in the cost management system
Identify and/or implement suitable cost saving initiatives
The successful Quantity Surveyor will have:
FTTP Infrastructure experience
Excellent communication skills
Excellent Sub-contractor management skills
IT literate and experience working with MS office apps and cost control systems
Self-organisation skills and ability to organize others
Priority management
Attention to detail
Ability to drive program
High levels of quality standards
Attention to HSQE matters
Ability to handle simultaneously multiple tasks
Full Driving licence
