ActionAid UK are currently recruiting for a Senior Policy Specialist - Women's Economic Rights. This is a fixed term contract running from early September 2021 to early February 2022 and is a part time role working 31.5 hours per week.
We are looking for an experienced international development professional with a demonstrable track record of policy and research work on women's economic rights in a development context. Commitment to and a deep understanding of feminist approaches to economic rights, as well as alignment with ActionAid UK's feminist behaviours are essential to lead on the delivery of an exciting portfolio of work over the coming months.
Your main focus will be to help us continue exploring the take up and operationalisation of feminist economic alternatives among policy makers in the Global South and North, working closely with colleagues across the ActionAid Federation, partners and allies worldwide. Guided by our feminist behaviours and our organisational commitment to decolonisation and anti-racism, the successful candidate will build strong relationships with diverse colleagues to co-design and co-deliver a programme of policy-based influencing work to make macroeconomic policy gender just. Experience of working across borders and cultures is therefore essential as is an understanding of the UK political context and the role of International Financial Institutions in shaping global trends.
The successful applicant will have proven research skills as well as excellent communication skills, including proven success in communicating in challenging and cross-cultural contexts and writing compelling policy pieces for both expert and non-expert audiences.
This role sits within the International Development Policy and Practice (IDPP) unit, which is comprised of a Business Development, a Programme Quality and Assurance and a Research and Programme Policy team. IDPP focuses on financial resource mobilisation, grant/ contract management, programmatic innovation and assurance, research and learning as well as programme-grounded policy work.
