Junior ETCS System Engineer
This role is for a Junior ETCS System Engineer, capable of fulfilling the support of requirements management and system engineering on all active ETCS on-board projects.
The Junior ETCS System Engineer will be expected to:
undertake the management of ETCS project requirements within the DOORS environment from both client and internal documentation.
Understand and record ETCS engineering decisions within the document set.
record ownership for ETCS engineering decisions taken.
Develop towards an ETCS engineering role and learn about the technologies and products used
The role requires great flexibility and prioritisation of critical support to ensure the ETCS on-board team can function efficiently and effectively.
Success in the role will be measured primarily by the on-time delivery of allocated deliverables meeting quality targets as agreed with the ETCS Systems Engineering Manager or System Engineering Manager. The Junior ETCS System Engineer will be expected to plan their own work within their overall agreed targets and timescales.
The Junior ETCS System Engineer provides a dedicated point of contact for DOORS requirements management, analysis, and compliance tracking.
This role will help play a major part in delivering the ETCS on-board systems necessary as the business demands. The role will focus on the up front or early part of the lifecycle activities of the System Engineering process for all ETCS on-board projects.
The Junior ETCS System Engineer will report to the ETCS Systems Engineering Manager.
What are my responsibilities?
* Management of DOORS user accounts/access permissions and user support
* Responsible for administration and configuration of DOORS environment within ETCS on-board project delivery
* Provide support and resolution of DOORS issues to all users at all levels
* Configuration of the DOORS environment to meet the needs of the projects.
* Importing and exporting data within DOORS environment
* Management of tool templates, database structures and tool configuration
* Coordinate problem reports on tool issues/upgrade
* Report on progress as required
* Support Requirements capture from internal documents and all other sources
* Support Requirements traceability, linkage, and verification checking
* Support Customer Requirements Elicitation Capture and Analysis
* Support System Requirements Elicitation and Specification
* Support System Design Analysis and Specification
* Support creation of requirement compliance statements and clause by clause tables
What do I need to qualify for this job?
* Knowledge of the ETCS product
* Knowledge of the ETCS Software and Data Rules (ESBO)
* Experience working within an engineering team (essential)
* Experience with DOORS (essential)
* Proven ability to analyse and resolve issues relating to DOORS (ideal)
* Knowledge of Requirements Management processes. (ideal)
* Knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle, cost awareness and awareness of processes involved in other engineering disciplines (essential)
* Understanding of project delivery processes (ideal)
* Good knowledge of configuration management and control practices (ideal)
* Able to work to tight timescales (essential)
* Strong multi-tasking skills involving the specific ability to work on multiple project assignments
* Good verbal and written communication skills (essential)
* Understanding and practical experience of applying railway or ETCS standards (ideal)
* Good inter-personal skills (essential)
