As part of the Staffordshire Digital Innovation Partnerships project, Staffordshire University has entered into a partnership with an innovative and growing Staffordshire based company who specialise in delivering Transformation Consultancy enabled through complex analytics and actionable intelligence.
We are looking to recruit a graduate to take on a specific 6-month project focused on the development of a Risk Model and case finding tool including an 'Outcomes Framework' to support the trials of Technology Enabled Care (TEC) to enable people to live independently in the community.
Working with Directors and experienced consultants in Caja Ltd and in support of real business clients, you will experience the entire analytics lifecycle from requirements specification, data analysis, algorithm development and testing in the development of a proof-of-concept. Your contribution will be focused on designing and testing a solution using client data and applying tools within the Microsoft Azure Big Data & Analytics solutions, such as Data Lake, Databricks, Machine Learning and Power BI.
Duties and responsibilities
* Work with the Caja Leadership Team to agree and specify analysis questions
* Perform feasibility analysis on available datasets and sources
* Develop new attributes or data features (feature engineering), for building the Risk algorithms in the model
* Design and build modelling tools relevant to the defined objectives
* Test outputs and validate the results
* Produce data visualisations to present the results in Power BI
* Conduct research and provide advice on approaches
* Work with the Lead Caja Director and Analytics Lead to document prerequisites and dependencies for successful project implementation
* Report on project impact
Skills and experience
* IT/Computing graduate
* Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Big Data & Analytics solutions, such as Data Lake, Databricks, Machine Learning and Power BI
* Knowledge of coding in Phyton, R-Language or similar
* Strong communication skills, being able to work as part of a team and as an individual
* Energy and enthusiasm, determination to succeed
* Good organisational skill and focused, problem-solving ability
* Prepared to fully participate in the commitment of the company to achieving the goals of the project
* Interest in and passion for analytics and data science with an appetite for creating solutions to support decision making in Health & Social Care
* An understanding of the basics of predictive techniques and/or statistics
* Knowledge of application tools that could be used to support the decision-making process and production of Actionable Intelligence
* Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and how businesses can utilise cloud storage to provide data lakes and overcome the challenges set by big data

The position is offered on a full time, fixed term contract for 24 weeks
Hours and Days: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm (37.5 hours each week)
Dress Code: Smart Casual
Pay Rate: GBP9.34 plus a holiday enhancement of GBP1.12 per hour (equivalent to GBP18,000 pro rata)
