Position: Therapeutic Play Specialist (early years specialist)
Location: HMP Downview - Sutton, Surrey
Job type: Part Time, Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 18.75 Hours per week (regular weekend and evening work is required)
Salary: GBP11,000 per annum pro rata (FTE GBP 22,000.00 per annum)

About the role:
This role will lead on an exciting new project overseeing provision for children visiting HMP Downview. Working as a member of the Family Services team at HMP Downview you will with focus on improving the experience for children visiting the prison, on delivering high quality engaging play activities for children visiting the prison to see their loved one.
As a Play Specialist you are responsible for training and supporting our play volunteers and student placements. You ensure prisoners, their children, carers and other relatives have access to appropriate advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them to maintain or enhance positive relationships.
About you:
To be successful as a Play Specialist you will work closely with Pact and prison staff to plan, resource and manage visits relating to children, such as family days and child-centred visit. In addition to, providing warm, human support and ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect, dignity and courtesy and ensure their needs are considered and views are heard at all levels. This post includes weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays.
