Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a growing food manufacturing business in their newly established site in Nuneaton.

They are vastly expanding across their two sites in both London and Nuneaton. They are looking for a key driver of the senior management team where you will be responsible for leading all on site health, safety and environmental activities.

With the recent coming together of their amazing brands and product ranges, the business aim is to be the world's favourite and fastest growing BFY snacks company.

Duties of a successful Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

The role will collaborate with the management team and operate as an integral part of the site SMT to establish safety procedures, safe working practises, provide advice, support and innovative solutions for safety problem solving.

Provide effective implementation of appropriate HSE procedures and updating in line with changes in Legislation, Company Directives and ISO requirements.

Communicate effectively with direct manager to drive and manage overall compliance and achievement of the site H&S and environment objectives/KPI's.

Provide operational support for the implementation of ISO 45001.

Implement appropriate KPI's, review of data trends across the business to identify sustainable improvements to safety, quality and performance.

Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting H&S, safe working practices and awareness in the workplace and enhance the HSE culture.

To audit, maintain and review, manage and record appropriate control measures taken in order to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Provide relevant training, education, communication and subject matter expertise to the site and relevant stakeholders.

Monitor safety concerns, near misses, accidents and RIDDOR for the site; ensuring full investigation and recommended actions are taken to prevent re-occurrence. Coordinate incident investigations where required.

Site inspections to be carried out, safety tours and audits, providing advice and support to line management where corrective actions are required.

Manage the Site HSE Dept. functions, and supporting functions, such as the first aid team, H&S Reps and H&S Committee.

Attributes of a successful Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

We are looking for an experienced health, safety and environment professional who has held a health, safety and environment management position previously. This would preferably be within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Ideally experience of driving world class manufacturing systems and processes such as lean six sigma.

You will be able to operate under your own initiative, manage, develop and implement substantial change when necessary, whilst ensuring that daily operational standards are maintained.

You will be process driven, passionate about working within a progressive, people centric environment and able to build strong teams with a demanding customer base in a reactive environment.

You will be organised, resilient and hold remarkable cross-functional stakeholder management qualities. Challenge and issue corrective actions to driving change.

Understanding and experience of Safety / Environmental Management Systems including OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO14001 / EMAS

Proven understanding and experience of legal systems, regulatory enforcement processes and relevant legislation.

Previous experience of Health and Safety management, assessments, PUWER, auditing and culture development

A true leader who can lead by example, mentor and develop the on-site team.

The package of a Heath, Safety and Environmental Manager:

Basic salary GBP50,000

45 hour week with a flexible working pattern.

Partial working from home.
