An opportunity has arisen for a Electrical Design Engineer based in Midlands region out of Annesley. You will be responsible for the production and coordination of outline and detailed Design Deliverables together with tender stage design on combined Process / Mechanical / Electrical / Civil schemes in the water industry.
What you'll be doing day to day
Ascertaining Clients' requirements through reference to their specification documents and visiting sites with their nominated personnel. A key requirement is the ability to determine the actual operational requirement and propose appropriate solutions
Working alongside the Design Manager and team, the Project Manager and delivery team to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
To prepare and review detailed electrical engineering solutions from inception to completion of schemes utilising our design partners, individual knowledge, site installation and construction personnel, working in a common data environment
To closely coordinate electrical design production between the nmcn in house design team, external design companies, our suppliers and subcontractors and where applicable our client's designers
Liaison with client's engineering staff or where applicable their design consultants to ensure designs are approved in accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract
Attend internal and external design reviews (e.g. HAZOP and ALM reviews) and where applicable progress meetings The experience we're looking for in a candidate
Experience with AMTECH
Generation of electrical installation packs including but not limited to cable calculations, cable block diagrams, termination details, cable schedules
Generation of control philosophies, URS and FDS documents (where applicable) to client briefs and specifications
Use of proprietary software to generate lighting design
Selection and appraisal of suppliers and their design submissions
Preparation of documentation in accordance with the CDM regulations
Identification of any temporary works requirements of the electrical design
Co-ordination of design at all stages
Possess an industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng in an electrical discipline
Chartered or pursuing chartership with 5+ years' experience within the water industry
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft and Google packages (experience with AutoCAD software would be an advantage)
Experience and understanding of water and sewage treatment processes and the equipment / system requirements
