Sales and Maintenance Assistant
Established in 1995, Bourne Buildings is the UK's largest garden buildings showsite with over 200 buildings, 5000 stone ornaments and 100 furniture sets on display.
Based in Farnham, Surrey, our family run retail business seeks an experienced, motivated Full-time Sales & Maintenance Assistant to work within a small, enthusiastic, and proactive team.
The role will be a mixture of dealing with customers' requirements and site maintenance work. Due to the nature of our showsite, much of the role is based outside, walking around our 3 acre showsite, talking to customers and showing them our vast garden building ranges.
Dealing with Customer requirements will include:
Finding out the customers' requirements and advising on the most suitable building for their needs, preparing quotes & writing orders. Technical information about the buildings, advice on base suitability, planning and building regulations will need to be given.
Site Maintenance will include:
Keeping our large showsite in good condition, by raking, sweeping/cleaning/hoovering buildings, topping up brochures, unloading deliveries, displaying stone ornaments & garden furniture, keeping signs & labels in good condition, carrying customers purchases to their car.
What we require
We are looking for a professional who can quickly absorb and retain product knowledge, has great people and communication skills, who is able to work under their own initiative, and has an exceptionally good work ethic.
Handwriting must be clear and neat for writing quotes and order taking. The candidate will also need a confident, polite telephone manner, the ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively, and have meticulous attention to detail.
Required Experience
The successful candidate will need to have a minimum of 2 years of sales, or other relevant work experience. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided by our team.
Pay
Wage is paid per hour, with the equivalent salary approx. GBP20,000 - GBP30,000 dependant on experience and performance.
Working hours
Employees will be expected to work 44 hours per week during normal opening-hour periods, and 40 hours per week during winter months (Nov - Feb).
Working pattern is 5 days a week, Thursday - Monday
(Weekends & Bank Holidays will be worked, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays are our days off each week)
Holiday entitlement is 28 paid holiday days per year
