We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Housing Officer to join our Housing team who is based at our Head Office Sidcup and our Regional Office in Chertsey.

In this role you will ensure our tenants are provided with excellent housing management services:

Issuing tenancies,
Effective management and resolution of disputes,
Minimising rental arrears & client debts,
Meeting our statutory and regulatory obligations when providing these services.The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the housing sector, however we are happy to consider candidates with relevant transferable skills needed for this role - from career changers to anyone who would want to enhance their current skills!

Due to the nature for this role, it is essential for the successful applicant to hold a valid driving licence and have access to own vehicle.

What will you be doing?

Provide advice and practical housing management support to tenants and colleagues to enable tenants to successfully manage their tenancies.
Work with operational colleagues to ensure our tenants are aware of their obligations and those of the organisation.
Recover rents and charges from tenants including Housing Benefit teams.
Ensure that all records are kept up to date and any summary reports required are accurate and delivered on time.
Assist with the provision of monthly reports regarding arrears and bad debts to managers.
Support the annual review and setting of rents and charges for supported housing within the group, including negotiation with Housing Benefit teams.
Ensure tenancies are in place for all Avenues 'tenants, and that the obligations of these agreements are understood.About YOU:

A strong understanding of housing management services and relevant housing legislation.
Experience of providing tenancy management and maintenance services in a supported housing or related setting.
Able to work collaboratively with colleagues across a geographically dispersed organisation to deliver services.
Ability to work sensitively with tenants and stake-holders.
Understanding of health and safety as it applies to providing
Sound analytical skills supported by excellent computer literacy.
Knowledge of welfare benefits including Housing Benefit applications.
A contemporary understanding of supported housing and the housing and accommodation needs of people with complex needs.For full details please download the attached role profile!
