Job Title: Youth Offending Team Officer
Salary: GBP18.28
Location: (B8) Washwood Heath Youth Justice Centre
We are proud to be working alongside Birmingham City Council to recruit a Youth Offending Team Officer to assist the Team Manager/Deputy Team Manager in providing an effective service that meets the individual needs of young people and their families to reduce and prevent further offending. It will be your responsibility to develop specific areas of expertise and knowledge in the YOT in order to develop and improve practice and to lead/assist in quality assurance and reviews where appropriate.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Working as part of a multi-agency team to improve and develop the provision of Youth Justice Services to young people and their families, complying with legislative requirements and in accordance with evidence-based practice.
* Undertake complex casework as allocated, ensuring that appropriate case records are rigorously maintained.
* To assist in the induction of new staff and to provide technical/professional support to meet the needs of less experienced staff.
* To work in partnership with service users and other teams, agencies and organisations at all times.
* To ensure through regular checks that records in relation to all service users are properly maintained in accordance with YOS requirements.
Skills & Abilities
* A minimum of basic level literacy and numeracy is required for this role.
* Experience within a similar role is preferred, but not essential.
* Experience working within a Social Care environment with children.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* An enhanced DBS is required for this role.
