A PRU / Pupil Referral Unit are desperately seeking a positive, enthusiastic Learning Mentor with exceptional behaviour management skills to start in their growing network of schools in September.
The PRU / Pupil Referral Unit is based just north of Taunton in a picturesque village and traditional building. They offer an alternative curriculum to students aged 5 - 16 years old who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education due to behavioural issues caused by Trauma in their childhood. The majority of students have Social and Emotional Mental Health issues with severe behavioural difficulty and they need someone who is engaging, resilient and experienced in this area of work.
You will be supporting across all areas of the curriculum and in some vocational courses such as mechanics and engineering, so a knowledge of core subjects and vocational subjects would be highly beneficial. The school teaches all students on a primary model meaning you will work with one class to build relationships that allow the students to grow.
As a Learning Mentor, it is essential that you have the following:
A good standard of education and can identify areas of improvement required when working on a 1:1 basis
You need to have the desire to help pupils overcome barriers and achieve the best results
You will be supporting across a range of vocational courses, such as Construction, Hospitality and Outdoor Education activities
The rolewill be 5 days per week
All staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you're paying the right level of Tax and National Insurance.
